English Sotis had been working with crank clay for many years. His work is thrown and the simplicity of the shapes is the first priority. The surface of the work is rough textured. He uses a lot of copper and iron oxides, trying to achieve a natural look. His inspiration for the shapes and texture is drawn from nature (trees, dry leaves and roots). Although somewhat heavy in appearance, the work is surprisingly light in weight. |
Francais Sotis travaille l'argile chamottee depuis de nombreuses annees. It travaille au tour et sa principale priorite est la simplicite de la forme. La surface des pieces est d'une texture rude. Il fait un grand usage des oxydes de cuivre et de fer, et s'efforce de realiser un aspect naturel. Pour les formes et la texture, il s'inspire de la nature (arbres, feuilles seches et recines). |
Deutsch Sotis arbeitet seit vielen Jahren mit Schamotte-Mischton. Seine Stucke sind auf der Drehscheibe gearbeitet, wobei Prioritat die Schlichtheit der Form ist. Die Oberflachen der Arbeiten sind grob strukturiert. Er verwendet haufig Kupfer unde Eisenoxide und versucht einen naturlichen "look" zu erzielen. Inspiration fur Form und Struktur bezieht er aus der Natur (Baume, trockene Blatter und Wurzeln) |
